In collaboration with Werk, the Lebanese cultural association 98weeks research project presents Beirut Every-Other-Day, a series of workshops investigating Beirut’s urban space.

The first workshop takes place 22–28 September 2008 and will be lead by Spanish artist Lara Almarcegui. The workshop will study specific sites in Beirut - empty spaces and abandoned constructions. By asking questions about what histories, economies and conflicts are still present through these sites – and - how can these physical remains provide ways to rethink Beirut’s layered history? We hope to also be able to envision possibilities for the future city.
The workshop is open for artists, architects and others with specific interests in the topic. It is free of charge for Lebanese participants. International participants provide their own travel and accommodation. If you are interested in participating, please forward your CV and artist statement along with a brief outline of your proposed investigation by email to Marwa Arsanios, marwaarsanios@hotmail.com and/or Mirene Arsanios, mirenearsanios@yahoo.it
The workshop starts with a public seminar on 22 September where Lara Almarcegui will present her work. This seminar also hosts Swedish curator Cecilia Andersson along with Lebanese architect/artist Tony Chakar, moderaed by architect George Arbid.
